German ladies and beer cans

I was going to write something today but I really can’t think of anything that’s worthwhile to put down…………..nothing much has been happening……..well except I got to go to Angie’s neighbor’s with her yesterday to sew drapes for the living room and dining room…..well really Angie sewed the dining room drapes and I did the ones for the living room……………..and I sewed my finger instead of the material……….and somehow I managed NOT to get blood all over the cream colored material……….

why is it that cream or white are the only colors that people want anyway?  The neighbor lady, sweet little German lady of advancing years (as she put it) is putting her home on the market for sale.  She doesn’t know where she’s going to move yet but is getting the house ready anyway………….she has all kinds of pretty, old world furniture, and everything is done up in cream or off-white………..and there’s SO MUCH of it.  I didn’t have the heart to tell her that she has way too much stuff in the house for it to show well. I did try to gently say that she needed to clear out the shelves and tables, and she said “oh I did that already”, and there’s still a bazillion nick-nacks all over the place…………

I know that the real estate people all suggest (strongly) that people clear out the rooms of all kinds of things that people like showing off and I worried a touch that this sweet lady would be insulted when she faces the real estate people around here.

They (the RE people) all say the same sorts of things…..they will “market” a home and get a fast sale with tons of money for the owner, then they don’t do a dad-gummed thing to try to sell the house……….at least that’s what the ones have been doing with mine.

We are still waiting to get an offer on our home and I am starting to think we never will.  It’s been painted, cleaned out of excess stuff, and cleaned to within an inch of it’s life and……….nothing.  First we were going to go to Guatemala and work at a mission but that fell all apart, which I guess is a blessing in the long run……but George and I are still disappointed about the whole thing.  I mean, I went and learned a bunch of Spanish phrases so I wouldn’t be a complete dork when we got there and now who am I going to practice on anyway?  It’s not like I know a bunch of Spanish speaking people to practice with… I guess the Spanish will go the way of my Latin and Greek and I will forget all of it except stupid stuff like where is the bathroom or I like that color………..

And we did decide to move to Oklahoma when we sell the house so that George doesn’t have to work till he’s a bazillion years old before the house is paid off…………I’ve found a dozen houses so far that I would have loved to have and fix up with my own special brand of home decorating (more color than a Central American whore-house)………………..but so far the home buyers are just not cooperating with us so we can go………………..and in the meantime, Ang and Garry are about to move back home to Enid and I will be temporarily without a best bud to get into trouble with……and I can’t figure out how to end that statement without a dangling participle and it’s driving me crazy!

George is all happy in his new job where he’s valued as a nurse for a change and said “it’s ok, we’ll get there soon” like he can just say it and it’ll happen! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr  So I am trying to keep busy so I don’t think about Ang leaving me behind, and I am going through color-withdrawal and making pillows for lawn furniture because the real estate people haven’t said not to…………………..and I’ve been watching the baby armadillo that shows up every afternoon to drive the dog nuts by digging next to the fence………………….and I’ve been finding all kinds of projects for when I do actually get to move…………………….like a table and chairs set made of beer cans………………or a garden made of tires…………….or a hanging swing made of an old trampoline………………..sigh.

And I have no idea how I got from sewing my finger and a German lady to this….or even how to end the silly blog. so I’ll just stop.
