We bought a new tv….nothing special, just a little thing that we could actually connect to a dvd player so we could watch our movies…..and in George’s case his old tv shows from the 60’s and 70’s……………….anyway, I got that sucker out of layaway this morning and brought it back to set up…but instead of setting it up right away I went and grabbed Angie and off we went to bath and body for soaps……….I adore their stuff. red my skin feels so good after using their stuff as opposed to using a bar of something cheap…and since it costs a ton of money we have to wait for months saving our pennies and dimes until we have enough to get something special…….anyway, after practically buying out the store (i got four or five things) we opted for lunch at a local Chinese place……….it’s our favorite one since they have a buffet, an hibachi grill and a sushi counter……………now we all hate sushi (nothing more gross than the thought of raw fish for lunch)………chinese food

And, since today was a special we’re going to waste all our hard earned money day, we opted for the hibachi grill………….OMG that stuff was good! It seems to take forever to get your food cause the lil Asian dude is cooking it right in front of you and the smells are just amazing, but I think it only took ten minutes tops to get our plates………….after we stuffed ourselves beyond comprehension, we dropped by a local boutique and got tights……..yep I needed them. (this is my rationalization anyway)……

  1. it gets cold here
  2. I hate long johns
  3. it’s way better than wearing pj’s under my pants cause the bottoms of the pj’s are too long and stick out and look funny!

So, after having to walk to the back of the store to pay for them, I passed sweaters, and earrings………….so of course I bught a sweater and a couple of pair of earrings……….hey! They were on the way to the cash register! I saved time not having to come back!

After all of that it was back to Angie’s so Garry could take a nap and time for me to go home again…………

Once I got home, I un-boxed the tv………….boy THAT wasn’t easy………not only was it wrapped in bubble wrap, it had all kinds of styrofoam around it and was stuck inside a too small box with a bunch of cardboard stuff in it………..it took a good ten minutes and a pair of scissiors and a butcher knife to dig through all the packing crap but I managed………then I had to “install” the stand…………well that should be easy……….four tiny screw were enclosed for that job…………I ended up using one of George’s tiny screwdrivers to do the job but I had the stand secured………

I somehow managed to plug in the tv, the dvd player and the directv box correctly….and turned it on………..now to get the remote control for the directv to work on the tv…………………after an hour of my putzing around with it we managed to get a picture…….then I tried to change a channel and a floating box appeared ………1251remote_control

it said (basically) “you are indeed an idiot to think you can program me, ha ha ha”……….I had to hold the select and mute buttons at the same time while counting to ten then let go…..then input five numbers (seemingly arbitrary numbers) and wait for two blinking lights………….I went through 37 groups of numbers waiting for two lights to come on before I realized I was waiting for ONE light to blink TWICE! So I started over…………….and went through 36 sets of numbers before that ONE stupid light BLINKED TWICE…………..BUT! I managed to program the clicky thingy so I can sit on my rear on the comfy futon and click a button instead of standing up and walking three feet to the television and push a button!

I feel like a geek now! A total, bumfuzzled, complete and perfectly geeky sort of geek! Kali will be so proud!mrsgeek
