New friends and awful movies!

I was having a lovely chat (well, as close to a chat as anyone can get online in a blog) with Jane of The Planet According to Dom about relatives, bad movies and alligators.  No, I am not sure how or why we got started…this was just to show the interesting and informative conversations YOU TOO can have here on WordPress!

In any event, I decided I really, really needed to find the movie her uncle was in as a stuntman…an old Diana Dors movie.  What?  You don’t know who Diana Dors was? Were you born under a rock?  (sorry…I was dared yesterday to stick that phrase in a post and the placement here was too perfect to pass up).

Diana Dors was the British equivalent of Marilyn Monroe. A blonde bombshell who really couldn’t act her way out of a paperbag but absolutely NO ONE cared because she was gorgeous! THAT’S who Diana Dors was.

In any event I started the search for the awful movie….I actually adore awful movies. I NEED this one just because it has such an awful name.  “An Alligator Named Daisy”.  Isn’t that awful? I find them absolutely hilarious.  So…I found this on you tube!

And, an added benefit of truly awful movies is that once you see just a bit of them, you absolutely have to find the entire thing! Mostly due to the fact that you can’t believe someone wasted so much money making the movie and there MUST be something good in it somewhere. It becomes a quest of sorts to find the goodness. Of course, you know (as does everyone else) the quest is doomed, but you quest on anyway.

And I found it.  Yes, yes I did!  I found it on Amazon and the very best part?  It is a double feature! yes, indeedy…not ONLY can I purchase An Alligator Named Daisy BUT I also get the added bonus of that worldwide extravaganza of a film…………..”Value For Money!”

What? You’ve never heard of that film? It stars Diana Dors and Donald Pleasence!  Donald of The Outer Limits fame!

In any event, the movie is now mine for the low retail price of $4. 44!  I know! I couldn’t believe it cost that much either!

And I shall endeavor to locate Jane’s uncle doing some magnificent stunting……….I can hardly wait!

  1. And here she is as the zaftig Fairy Godmother at the ball in Adam Ant’s Prince Charming viceo. You’re welcome.

    1. oh my goodness. that had to be the worst song I have ever heard! LOL she was rather zaftig, wasn’t she? lol

      1. ahahaha! Adam Ant was most famous for poor-quality but very popular tunes, and being rather handsome in his way. His bunch were punks to start with, and I have yet to hear more than maybe 2 chords in a song of theirs. I have to say that I actually prefer his brand of tripe to the rap and hiphop, since at least Adam Ant wrote his own stuff and it had some effort at melody. I don’t think something is ‘a song’ without a melody–

    2. Gosh, I’d forgotten about her being in that video. Thanks for the reminder!

  2. You can be quite weird at times, Suze. But in an endearing way, of course.

  3. Suze, could I turn you on to SHARKINATOR movies? Great scripts, fantastic visuals, spellbinding performances….

    1. they are already on MST3000 and George has made sure I was exposed to the glory of the sharkinator! As George puts it, “there can never be enough Sharkinator movies and One just isn’t enough!”

      1. I dunno, Suze, they are akin to an activity Grandpappy warned me about. Too many of ’em will make you blind.

  4. Oh that clip is truly awful! Another interesting fact about Miss Double D was that she used to throw (how can I say this diplomatically) very ADULT parties, involving two way mirrors and viewing rooms. Now, remember the last time I advised you about Googling the Wombles? I IMPLORE you not to Google this new fact or you’ll have the Porn Police after you!

    1. OMG! I SO want to google this! BUT, after having seen (the never again unseen) Wombles, I know better. probably.

  5. Reblogged this on The Planet According to Dom and commented:
Thanks to Suze for this post about a truly awful British 50’s B Movie starring Diana Dors in ‘An Alligator Named Daisy.’ This clip doesn’t show my Uncle Ernie wrestling with said Alligator, but don’t worry, no one would believe that it’s actually real!
