Moms demand Action is nationwide now……….

Here’s our group in the capital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  We couldn’t fir in everyone that is in the group as there were so many.

We MUST change the gun laws. Arming our children’s teachers is not the answer…possibly banning weapons isn’t either, but it is a damned good start!

Now we wait for Thursday’s vote on the “open carry without permit/training” bill in the House. Hopefully we made enough of an impression that our legislators will do the right thing. We did with one state trouper

Meeting one on one tends to work well when advocating for change.

What are you doing in your state?

  3. Attagirl! Very happy to see that people are not letting up, because it’s way, way past time.

There has even been an event at our little DoD school (both of my girls were involved – proud mama!), expressing solidarity with the Stoneman Douglas students. Military brats demanding gun control. It sure boggled some minds.

I’m frequently amused when pro-gun civilians assume we’re all in love with our firearms. Sure, we get our fair share of gun nuts. But a lot of us wouldn’t want them in our homes, let alone near our kids. We know what those damn things can do. And those who do keep them around for various reasons? Well, again, we know how to handle the buggers (though on a tangent – I sure wish there were just a bit more being done about veterans with severe PTSD having easy access. It’s like handing a depressed person a rope and pointing them to a nice tree….)

What a surreal world, that at our high school my children are surrounded by deadly weapons, and tanks, and helicopters – every day. Yet I’m utterly unconcerned because I know no unauthorized person will make it onto the base and the MP do not look kindly upon unauthorized firearms (meaning any but theirs) anywhere near the civilians. Let alone the children.

Meanwhile civilian mothers back home live in fear. Talk about mind-boggling …. >:D

      1. We actually live in an off post housing area, but close enough to the airfield to have choppers overhead all the darn time. The military child’s lullaby … 😛

But yes, it’s a little world of its own, huh? Wonder how I’ll deal with missing it after I retire.
