continuing home “improvements”

I am 3/4 of the way through with the front room.  Only the corner where I have my computer desk and file is left to clean, paint and organize.

Now, this afternoon my sweet George decided he would “help” me paint the room.  Then when the 3rd corner was done he noticed “a few spots” that needed a second coat of paint.  I couldn’t see anywhere that needed help, but he is German……….yes, that DOES explain it.

Anyway, upon coming down a step ladder (mine and it is too small for his huge feet but he insisted upon using it) he stepped directly into the open paint can. It’s been fun…………….sigh

Yes, I now need to replace the vinyl sheeting I put down last year…super cheap stuff, but until I can pay for flooring it does what it needs to do. I am just going to let the danged paint dry then peel it off the vinyl……..it is easier than scraping it up in a dust pan then trying to get it all back in a can.  I did say George is German, right? Yea, never waste anything..those German’s are sure frugal.

The GOOD news is that I finally have my “crafts” center……..now I couldn’t afford the 400 dollar one I fell in love with, so I recreated it (sort of) with a small file cabinet, a TV stand and some plywood.  It works, it looks okay and that is the important stuff.  It does what I need it to do.

So, now I wait for paint to dry (roflmao) and then peel it off the floor.  Then and only then can I complete this room and move on to the next one.

      1. I’d check laws in various countries. It might turn out that you want to travel sometime soon.

      2. lol……..I know. instead of beating the hubby though, I decided to take a break, stayed in bed for two days, and George decided he needed to beg forgiveness (he wasn’t sure what he was begging FOR but he did it anyway) and begged me to cook. lol

  2. I see your floor and raise you a upholstered chair, red velvet drapes and gold shag carpeting. It was the seventies and we had just moved in to this home. Colors not our chouce. Needless to say no one ever lets me forget that I went into the front door where these things exist carrying two cans of ivory paint when the bales broke on both cans and you can imagine the rest.

      1. You know how you do something that did not seem stupid at that moment, but you did it, and never, I mean never, hear the end of it??🙄😳😂

  3. Ok Suze, as a full fledged German, 100% German and Swiss heritage, I can totally relate to George. That’s who we are and we are incapable of changing who we are. Obviously, your project needed some male German expertise. Not his fault that YOU left that bucket of paint carelessly in his way……hmmmm, my wiener schnitzel needs my attention. Auf weidersehen.

    1. I didn’t put the paint can on the floor. I had the paint can on the top step of my step ladder and was using another step ladder to reach the high places. HE took the can and placed it on the floor…and YES, knowing he is German and simply can not go against all those thousands of years of teutonic mindset, I TOLD him it was in a bad place and to move it…….:P

  4. Lookin’ good. I imagine you’re over the moon about your results so far. Poor George though. He meant well. However, I doubt he wanted to be so much apart of the DIY that you’d consider peeling him, even secretly!

    1. George has been “hiding” in his super shed ever since the paint debacle! So, I now have painted footprints going from the front room, through the living, dining and kitchen, then out through the laundry room and down the back steps! Thank goodness I can get the floors done next year! LOL

  7. Your craft area looks really good. One thing I worry about is the table. Is it stable enough? It looks a bit thin.
