Melanie B Cee at Sparks From a Combustible Mind has taken over cee’s syw…………..join us for a weekly question challenge.
QUESTIONS FOR THIS WEEK:
Name two books that have influenced you and share how. (Credit for this question goes to Teresa of The Haunted Wordsmith. She asked for TEN books, in her challenge, so the SYW folks got off a bit easy..)
Night by Elie Wiesel the Holocaust from a personal point of view..it gave me the desire to see that the world never forgets man’s capacity for inhumanity to man.
The Quran: English Translation: I first read the book as a faltering Christian..one who had studied the Bible and believed..until I got so far into my seminary studies that the deviations from the original writings were so “in my face” and done purposely for strictly political or monetary reasons I could no longer ignore them. After even more in depth studies much of my Biblical beliefs had to be thrown out for a more logical (ration al) belief system. So I read the Quran, I read the writings of Budhha, Confucius, and almost every other religious text I could find. Frankly, the Quran is far more peaceful than the Bible in its exhortations in re violence against non-believers. People should read the book for themselves instead of thinking all Muslims are “bad” or “out to kill unbelievers”.
In your opinion, where is the line between art and not art? Art is so subjective that my opinion of it should have no influence over another’s opinion of art. what is art to me is probably dreck to someone else.
Trivia for Halloween: What item is banned only during Halloween from 12am October 31st to 12pm November 1st in Hollywood California? (I know the answer, but I do not have any idea WHY)..c’mon…hazard a guess! silly string…i think. at least it used to be banned in Hollywood during the 1980’s. Something about it being “too difficult” for the poor over-worked city workers to clean up on November 1st every year. Dunno why it is so hard to clean up………
What is something that really annoys you but doesn’t bother most people? People talking on cell phones…loudly…or while driving. I’ve never heard a single conversation yet that couldn’t wait. I mean who cares what your boyfriend did with your new bra, or do I seriously care what you want to eat for breakfast tomorrow?
Instead of our usual gratitude question, I’m posing this one for this week:
What or who in your life brings you the most joy? My friends, family and dog…and if I completely honest…it’s my DOG.
