and George is watching football. The sounds of his groans and barely strangled in time curses…the shouts of “go, go go you bas………” fill the air with music to my ears.
I just finished sewing the presents I am planning to give to friends and family, cleared off the sewing and craft tables, and am quietly catching up on blog posts I have missed over the past month.
I can’t help but wonder if my sons are doing okay…neither one seems to remember how to pick up a pen and paper and write…..in their defense though, neither do I.
I have two unopened boxes of Christmas and holiday cards still to be sent and think “I’ll possibly do those next year”….knowing next year will just be a continuation of this one. I won’t send the things; I never do.
I think I might just send them for people’s birthdays instead and write something along the lines of “I was thinking of you during the holidays. Perhaps the birthday card will be mailed by next December”.
I bake cookies, fruitcakes and make candies as gifts every year but the ingredients are still sitting in my cupboards waiting…….I just couldn’t find the energy do do them this year.
Tomorrow I might just bake……..but probably not.
Christmas day will be spent with Angie and Garry, their two dogs and ours…………it will be a shared meal and cleanup…with the guys watching the everlasting football game of the day.
It’s actually rather comforting to know that nothing will be expected of me that day.
I wish for everyone a peaceful holiday spent with beloved ones……….that doesn’t necessarily mean with family either. Enjoy your day. Real life will be intruding quickly enough. Take some time for yourselves. I know I am going to do just that.
