another one of Rory’s challenges..question fun

Season 1 game 4, according to Rory. I dunno since I seemed to have somehow missed 1 thru 3……sigh. Anyway, here are his questions (choices) and my responses…..Adventuring, Exploration and Travel.

What are five [in your eyes only] top quality Adventure films? I guess I don’t really know what an adventure film really is, so I can’t give any examples of good ones.

All I can think of are Lawrence of Arabia or The Martian………..sorry

What would be your ideal Adventure [not holiday – Adventure] ummmmmmmmmm, none?

If you were planning your Adventure of a Lifetime which is the best season for you to go? ummmmmmmmmmmm, never? When do we get to the travel questions? lol

What kind of activities do you enjoy doing and what would you never do? I love camping, horseback riding, traveling, meeting new people from different cultures, cooking…..

If you could live anywhere in the world for a year out of the answers below, where would you choose?

In a Castle

Under the Sea

In a Forest

In a Dungeon

On an Alien Planet

On the side of an Active Volcano

Probably in a forest. Castles are drafty and/or cold and I am so not a princess looking for a prince.no way for underwater..sorry, but I have seen underwater living horror movies. Anyone wanting to live in a dungeon is probably a bit off mentally so no to that idea….I refuse to take a space ship somewhere and I’ve visited an active volcano…nothing fun at all about the pyroclastic flow.

What are three great adventure quotes?    “oh, the places you’ll go” Dr Seuss; “Life is an adventure, it’s not a package tour.” Eckhart Tolle; “To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries.”  Aldous Huxley

America is named after? Americus Vespucci (fourth grade world history)

Who reached North America first out of the following people’s?

Spanish, British, Vikings, Portuguese   the Vikings did…unless you believe the story of Saint Brendon, an Irish monk who supposedly found America first

What was Christopher Columbus’s aim of  his second voyage to the New world? ultimately to make money from the trade goods of India and China…he DID have an order from the Portuguese (or was it the Spanish royals for number 2?????) king and queen though to subjugate the Taino tribe and start a colony in what we now call the Greater Antilles (which isn’t in America at all)

What happened to the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan? Cortez besieged the city, forced a famine and massacred the inhabitants.

What was the most exciting Adventure you have ever been on?  A camel trek from St Catherine’s Egypt to Cairo over a ten day period….living with the Bedu.

Where in the world have you had the most fun exploring as an adult? Egypt

When in Rome, one does as the Roman’s do, however When on a Sandy Beach,  one does ……….. ? Not a danged thing.

Whilst out and about exploring on an adventure, what is the most scariest thing that has happened to you? The Arab Spring uprising in Cairo.

Of the following choices which would you prefer to explore?

A sunken city

A lost city

A forgotten city

An uninhabited island    Okay, what is the difference between a lost one and a forgotten one? either of them would work. Again no underwater stuff for me and that island would be a pain in the patootie

Why did you pick your option above, what appealed?  no one to bug me..no tour guides, or vendors to harass..and no water surrounding me.

Would you rather swim with sharks or dolphins? neither one. I prefer swimming in a pool….

What’s the worst piece of travel advice you have ever received?  “You don’t need to learn any of the language”

What’s the best piece of travel advice you have ever received?  “Learn some basic phrases or words”

What is on the top of your bucket list?  don’t have a bucket list.

Best musical track you can think of for each of the following: exploration, adventuring or travelling? [Please provide links]

How many countries [or States/Counties] have you visited – please list. In the USA: NY, NJ, Mass., Delaware, Maryland, Ohio, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, W. Virginia, Virginia, N. Carolina, S. Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, Michigan, Texas, N. Mexico, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, California, Washington DC., Kansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Georgia Wisconsin, Pennsylvania.

Outside the USA: Mexico, Guatemala, Ukraine, Israel, Egypt

Three items you simply could not travel without? Fodor’s travel guide, camera, spare pair of glasses.
